Sustainable Live provides the live music sector with practical, cost-effective strategies and resources to support sustainability efforts.

The program focuses on the intersection of climate and live music through two key areas: climate mitigation and climate adaptation.

climate contingency roadmap

for outdoor concerts and festivals

November 2025. Live music events – especially outdoor ones – are increasingly vulnerable to disruptions from wildfires, floods, storms, and extreme heat, becoming a defining challenge for our sector.

As a response, the CLMA is currently undertaking a national initiative to assess the impacts of weather-related disruptions on live music events in Canada and build on those findings to develop a robust Climate Contingency Roadmap, composed of practical, accessible tools to plan for and respond to climate disruptions.

The final Climate Contingency Roadmap is planned to be comprised of five core elements:

  • Site Selection and Climate Preparedness Toolkit

  • Insurance Backgrounders

  • Planning Templates

  • Emergency Services Primers

  • Overview of Technology Aids
