The Canadian Live Music Association (CLMA) office is located in Ottawa, on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation whose presence here reaches back to time immemorial. The CLMA recognizes and honours the Algonquins as the customary keepers and defenders of the Ottawa River Watershed and its tributaries.
The CLMA acknowledges and rejects the systemic colonial mechanisms that have endangered Indigenous cultural and artistic identities up to the present day. As the voice of Canada’s live music industry, the CLMA recognizes the historic and present inequitable representation in the live music sector, and is committed to addressing the underlying causes that create inequitable outcomes.
As such, the CLMA embraces the responsibility to foster new and existing relationships, nurture Indigenous career development, provide access to resources (such as educational materials, research and data, and advocacy), and contribute to creating opportunities and removing barriers.
By doing so, the CLMA strives to adhere to principles that protect and preserve Indigenous identities.
