Live Music Industry Award winners announced at 2022 clmias
AWARDS INCLUDE OUTSTANDING DIGITAL LIVE MUSIC EVENT, OVERCOMING ADVERSITY, OUTSTANDING EMERGING ORGANIZATION, AND LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT.
Toronto, Ontario (June 10, 2022) - Canadian Music Week and the Canadian Live Music Association (CLMA) are happy to announce the recipients of the 2022 Canadian Live Music Industry Awards (CLMIAs).
The CLMIAs, hosted by Jully Black, took place on June 10 at the El Mocambo, featuring host Jully Black and performances from Sam Drysdale, Preston Pablo, Rêve, and Nobro.
The event served as the long-awaited “reunion” of the live music community, celebrating resilience and perseverance through the impacts of COVID-19. In her annual live music state of the union address, CLMA President & CEO Erin Benjamin emphasized the importance of collaboration and unity looking forward to the industry’s continued rebuilding.
"Congratulations to all of the recipients, and also to all of the nominees of this year's CLMIAs. The survival instincts in our industry are now officially legendary. It was so meaningful to celebrate so many champions together and in-person in Toronto. While the awards singled out an incredible list of people and organizations, it goes without saying that everyone who stuck with the business is a hero; to artists, to their community, and most certainly to our incredible industry. Thank you for never giving up, and here's to our best summer—and year—yet!" - Erin Benjamin, President & CEO, CLMA
The event also featured an honorary presentation celebrating CLMA President & CEO Erin Benjamin, whose ceaseless advocacy and dedication has been both a beacon of hope and a lifeline to live music organizations across the country, and to the individuals who make up this industry. The presentation was made by CLMA Board Chair, and President & CEO of The Corporation of Roy Thomson Hall and Massey Hall, Jesse Kumagai.
The CLMA works year-round to amplify the importance of and support the live music industry. Join and support the association today.
